Today, I will tell you about the first family event I attend with Sarah's Aunt, Uncle and Cousin. But first, there is something else I must say. And this is one of the not so good parts of our journey together. Sarah isn't very well at the moment, and is attending a lot of appointments and things, so please forgive me if my blog is not as frequently updated as you would like! However, as she keeps telling me, she is a fighter, and I told her she had best get better quickly, because it would be a shame if she missed her own engagement party! :D
So, the BBQ! This BBQ was set-up by Sarah's Aunt's dance group. There were loads of people there, lots of family's, probably 80 in total. And get this.. THERE WAS A DANCE FLOOR! I may not be the most skilled of street dancers, but I make up for it with enthusiasm! :D (Micheal Jackson is a personal specialty!)
So, after a few introductions, we were all sitting and chilling and eating, all the good stuff! Then I decided to ask Sarah's Aunt to teach me to dance. Little did I relalise it was Latin/Flamenco/ballroom stuff. Nice. Sarah decided she wasn't going to dance, so I was the first of the under 40's to enter the dance floor. Sarah's best mate and cousin had also decided to watch before they tried. Good choice.
I made a total prat of myself, and was being told you go 'IN..OUT...IN...OUT!' which did not increase my dancing abilities, as I was trying so hard not to fall apart laughing. After ONE song, I gave up and returned to a lot of piss-taking and impressions at the top of the hill where we were sitting. After a few hours of chilling, chatting and smoking (my three main talents!), Sarah showed me for the first time just how romantic she could be. She borrowed my iPod, and gave it to the DJ (Who was a bit rubbish incidentally).
Our song (God knows why) is Better Together by Jack Johnson. Lovely Acoustic love song, and quite appropriate for us as we are both guitarists, and 100% better together. (Awww.. I know!) So, as Sarah comes back up the Hill, our song starts. She came over, smiled at me, and put her hands round my waist. I put mine round her neck, and we slow danced in the sun in front of the entire BBQ. It remains one of my favorite moments together. <3

So, after this little moment, we sneaked off to have some time together. We went on a walk around the lake, and fund a secluded bench where we sat and discussed Sarah's family and their reaction to me, and I hate to say in proper teenage fashion participated in some rather passionate kissing :D (When there was no one looking obviously!)
After an hour or so, we returned to the BBQ, by which time some more music from this decade had come on. MY TIME TO SHINE! I grabbed Matt, Sarah's cousin and dragged him to the dance floor. He was just as enthusiastic as me, and I think we got a few odd looks as we danced club-style in the middle of the dance floor. We were soon joined by Sarah's mate, Matt's mate and Sarah. We then LITERALLY took over the dance floor.
I think we definitely got some dissaproving looks from some of the more elderly dancers. Apparently two girls grinding is not a good idea.. ;) But, after a few minutes, to my great surprise, Sarah's Aunt joined us! LOL! That DEFINITELY got some looks!
The last song was California Gurls by Katy Perry, one all 5 of us knew, which lead to a full-on rave on a wooden dance floor! I must admit, me and Matt do make a rather fantastic dance couple, though he was a BIT too enthusiastic about running his hands over me.. he did get some rather unimpressed looks from Sarah!
Hmm.. this post has been a particularly emotional one for me to write. I think this was the day I realised I loved Sarah, I loved all of her, every single bit. From the way she always drops herself in it, the way she challenged me to a sumo wrestle and got dump tackled (I missed that bit out to save her embarrassment...oops!). This is definitely made more apparent by the current situation. I LOVE YOU BABY! I know she will be reading this in about 5 mins, so I just thought I would put that out there! :)
So for this evening, this is Hayley: Signing off!
